Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why ding dong ditch?

A: I grew up going to a church that had lots of fun events and around Thanksgiving I can remember an event they called 'Thanksgiving Ding Dong Ditch' where everyone who participated would bring $20 and we would pool it all together and usually we'd end up with enough for two full Thanksgiving dinners for two needy families in the church so we would split up into two teams, we'd go to the grocery store, and both teams would buy everything needed to make a classic American Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixin's and we'd then go to each of those two families homes, we'd put the grocery bags on their front porch, ring their doorbell, and go hide where we would stay just long enough to see their reactions, and when they went to bring the first couple of bags inside, we'd run away so that they never knew who blessed them. I have wanted to do it as an adult for years, and with SNAP benefits going away just in time for Thanksgiving this year, it seemed like the right time to do it.

Q: How many families can apply?

A: As of right now, I am not sure. I want to help as many people as possible, but it is up to how many people want to donate.

Q: Is this local to Southern Colorado only?

A: Yes and no....if I can only get a few people to apply and/or help, then yes it will be local to Colorado Springs only. However, if I can get enough people to apply/donate then I would like to buy gift cards for families that are not in Southern Colorado as well!!

Q: How do I know you won't just take my money if I decide to donate?

A; The short answer is, you don't. But if even just a handful of people donate and I am able to help just one family to have a good Thanksgiving this year during all this craziness, then my project will have been a success.

I do plan on documenting the entire journey via TikTok live and will upload videos from each live as well, from the launch of this website, to my first donation, grocery shopping, and even the final part where I leave the groceries on someone's doorstep and/or drop their gift cards in the mail. Every second will be recorded and aired live as proof of where each and every dollar ends up. I hope that helps <3
